Currently, the name widely regarded as the most sought-after heroine in Tollywood is Mrunal Thakur. With the film Sita Ramam, she earned a special place in the hearts of Telugu audiences as “Sita,” and later delivered another classic success with Hi Nanna. She also impressed audiences with her performance in The Family Star and appeared in a brief cameo in Kalki 2898 AD. Despite these achievements, it was recently revealed by the director of Hi Nanna, Shouryuv, that Mrunal had been carrying a small but persistent fear in her mind. The action romantic film Decoyit, starring Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur and directed by Shaniil Dev, is scheduled for a worldwide release on April 10. At the pre-release event, where Shouryuv attended as the chief guest, he shared several interesting insights about Mrunal.
He mentioned that during the shooting of Hi Nanna, Mrunal would frequently call him and express her concern, saying she felt she might not be accepted by Telugu audiences. He explained that this anxiety could have stemmed from language barriers and the pressure of fully immersing herself in the role. She had even said that this might be her last Telugu film, though he did not take those remarks too seriously at the time. However, after the release of Hi Nanna, Telugu audiences embraced her performance, and her character “Yashna” received significant recognition. He noted that she is now being treated like a local star. Shouryuv expressed confidence that Decoyit will also be successful and will bring more opportunities for Mrunal in Tollywood, emphasizing that she cannot easily be away from the Telugu film industry. He further added that while she performed a fight sequence at the end of Hi Nanna, in Decoyit she will be seen performing action sequences from the very beginning in her role as Saraswati, and that the film is likely to add another hit to her career.
