

A thrilling encounter of IPL 2026 held at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai witnessed a remarkable victory for Punjab Kings. In a closely contested match, Punjab defeated Chennai Super Kings by 5 wickets. Chasing a massive target of 210 runs, Punjab successfully achieved the target with 8 balls to spare, emerging victorious.
Batting first after losing the toss, Chennai Super Kings posted a total of 209 for 5 in their allotted 20 overs. Young sensation Ayush Mhatre impressed with a brilliant innings of 73 runs off 43 balls. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad (28), Sarfaraz Khan (32) and Shivam Dube (45 not out) also contributed with valuable knocks. However, Sanju Samson (7) failed to make an impact. For Punjab, Vijaykumar Vyshak claimed two wickets and made a significant contribution with the ball.
Chasing 210, Punjab Kings got off to a strong start courtesy of their openers. Priyansh Arya played an explosive innings, scoring 39 runs off just 11 balls, while Prabhsimran Singh added stability with a well-made 43. Captain Shreyas Iyer then anchored the innings with a composed half-century, scoring 50 runs off 29 balls, steering the team closer to victory. In the final phase, Cooper Connolly’s quickfire 36 ensured Punjab reached the target in 18.4 overs. Shreyas Iyer was adjudged the Man of the Match for his match-winning performance. With this win, Punjab Kings improved their position in the points table, while Chennai Super Kings suffered a setback on their home ground.
