The ongoing protests by workers in Noida over minimum wage demands turned violent earlier this week. In Phase 2 of the industrial area, workers set fire to government vehicles and public property on Monday, prompting police to use tear gas. The situation escalated further when protesters pelted stones at the police, creating tense conditions.
On Tuesday, workers once again took to the streets in Sector 80, demanding a minimum salary of ₹20,000. Police attempted to control the crowd through baton charges as clashes intensified. Workers have accused companies of unfair practices, including low wages, denial of allowances and overtime pay, and terminating employees after nine months only to rehire them at the same salary. Around 45,000 workers reportedly participated in the protests, and police have arrested nearly 350 people while continuing the investigation.
