An Indian-origin man, Tarsem Singh, has been indicted in the United States on multiple felony charges after a fatal high-speed crash that killed a 17-year-old pregnant teenager and her unborn child. The incident occurred in Ohio when Singh allegedly drove his SUV at around 100 miles per hour. Police attempted to stop him for rash driving, but he reportedly accelerated instead, leading to a head-on collision with another vehicle. Authorities have set his bond at $1 million, and the next hearing is scheduled for April 3.
Following the crash, the teenage victim was thrown out of the vehicle and died due to severe injuries. Singh also sustained injuries and was later taken into custody after receiving treatment. According to US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the case highlights serious consequences of reckless driving. Singh has pleaded not guilty, but an immigration detainer has been placed on him, meaning deportation proceedings could follow if he is convicted.
