Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy launched a strong attack on N. Chandrababu Naidu, stating that his leadership is unfortunate for the people of Andhra Pradesh. He alleged that the resolution passed in the Assembly regarding Amaravati is nothing but a drama and questioned the very concept of a capital city, claiming that the term “capital” is not explicitly mentioned in the Constitution. Jagan further criticized Naidu, stating that governance under him reflects exploitation and corruption, and emphasized that people should be made aware of the ground realities surrounding Amaravati.
He also raised concerns over the massive expenditure involved in developing Amaravati, pointing out that even basic infrastructure like roads and drainage would cost around ₹2 crore per acre. According to his estimates, developing 1 lakh acres would require nearly ₹2 lakh crore, questioning the source of such huge funds. Jagan asked why the master plan is being altered now when it was earlier promoted as a world-class city before 2019. He also questioned whether promises made to farmers who gave their lands were fulfilled and criticized the continuous expansion of Amaravati, warning that the costs may escalate further.
