Washington: The United States has launched aggressive strikes against Venezuela under the pretext of curbing illegal drug trafficking. In the wake of these attacks, U.S. President Donald Trump made a sensational announcement, stating that Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife have been detained. Reports indicate that they are being moved from Venezuela to another location.
In the early hours of Saturday, seven bomb blasts occurred in Venezuela’s capital, Caracas. Reports suggest that these strikes were carried out under Trump’s direct orders. The U.S. claims that Venezuelan gangs are flooding America with narcotics and alleges that President Maduro has links to these criminal networks.
Venezuelan government officials stated that, in addition to Caracas, the U.S. military targeted the states of Miranda, Aragua and La Guaira. The government has declared a state of emergency in the country. Venezuelan Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino condemned the foreign military intervention, stating that civilians and military installations were targeted, calling the actions an illegal incursion.
