

Tomorrow, Telangana will hold its first-ever Panchayat elections. Polling will be conducted from 7 AM to 1 PM, with counting starting at 2 PM and results expected by the evening.
Elections are being held for 4,236 Gram Panchayats across the state, covering 27,960 wards. A total of 22,330 candidates filed nominations for the Sarpanch positions. In total, 85,428 nominations have been filed for 37,440 wards.
Nalgonda district leads in the number of nominations, with the highest competition for Sarpanch seats. In Nalgonda, 1,950 candidates filed nominations for 318 Panchayats, averaging six candidates per position. Mulugu district recorded the lowest number of nominations, with only 273 candidates for 48 Panchayats—the lowest in the state.
Nalgonda also set a record for ward member nominations, with 7,893 candidates filing for 2,870 wards. In Vikarabad, 4,311 candidates filed nominations for 2,198 wards, while in Ranga Reddy, 4,122 candidates filed for 1,530 wards. Mulugu remains at the bottom with only 959 candidates for 420 wards. Narayanapet recorded 1,183 nominations for 572 wards.
So far, five Sarpanch positions and 133 wards have been declared uncontested. The final number of uncontested seats will be clear after the withdrawal of nominations.
