The Telangana government is planning to expand the installation of Health ATMs across busy government hospitals to reduce patient waiting time and ease congestion at diagnostic sections. These advanced machines, which were initially introduced on a pilot basis at King Koti District Hospital and Malakpet Area Hospital in August 2025, have shown encouraging results. Each Health ATM is capable of conducting around 130 diagnostic tests, including both non-invasive and blood-based tests, helping doctors in quick pre-screening of outpatients with high accuracy.
Officials stated that the pilot project proved effective as test results from Health ATMs matched those from T-Diagnostics and private labs. The system also integrates reports with digital health records through cloud connectivity, ensuring seamless access. However, challenges such as technical issues, lack of awareness among elderly patients, and the need for trained staff remain concerns. Authorities are focusing on addressing these issues to ensure smooth implementation and make the initiative beneficial, especially for economically weaker sections by reducing diagnostic costs.
