Air India, the domestic airline owned by the Tata Group, is reportedly set to see the resignation of its CEO, Campbell Wilson. He has stepped down from his role despite having one more year remaining in his tenure. Although there has been no official announcement from the company, reliable sources have confirmed the development. The move has gained attention amid recent reports of dissatisfaction within the Tata Group leadership regarding his performance. Wilson, who assumed office in July 2022, was expected to continue until June 2027. While the merger of Air India and Vistara was completed under his leadership, critics have pointed out that there has been no significant improvement in service quality or punctuality. Additionally, his leadership faced further scrutiny following the aircraft incident in Ahmedabad last year.
In this context, reports had already emerged in March this year that the Tata Group had begun the process of identifying a new CEO for Air India. It is understood that Group Chairman N. Chandrasekaran held discussions with the heads of leading airline companies from the United States and the United Kingdom. Meanwhile, it is also noteworthy that Aloke Singh, Managing Director of Air India Express, recently stepped down from his position. These developments indicate that major structural changes are underway within the organization.
