Renowned spiritual speaker Garikapati Narasimha Rao has demanded that the name of Andhra Pradesh be changed to “Telugunadu.” He stated that the term Andhra Pradesh does not reflect Telugu identity and emphasized that the state's name should represent its linguistic and cultural heritage. He also recalled that N. T. Rama Rao had once attempted to rename the state as Telugunadu.
Garikapati further remarked that just as Kerala was officially referred to as “Keralam,” similar determination is needed to assert Telugu pride. He stressed that renaming the state would uphold the self-respect and cultural identity of Telugu people. His remarks have now triggered discussions in political and cultural circles.
