In a major anti-corruption operation, an RDO from Narayanpet, Ramachander, was caught red-handed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) while accepting a bribe for issuing birth certificates. According to ACB DSP Balakrishna of Mahabubnagar range, five individuals had applied for birth certificates through Mee Seva in July last year. The applications were forwarded by the Tahsildar to the RDO office for verification but remained pending for months. Despite repeated visits, no progress was made, prompting one of the applicants to approach the RDO directly.
The official allegedly demanded ₹7,500 per certificate and later agreed to ₹5,000 each, totaling ₹25,000. Acting on a complaint, ACB officials laid a trap, and the accused was caught while accepting the bribe. He has been taken into custody for further investigation. Searches conducted at his office and residence reportedly led to the recovery of cash and property documents worth several lakhs. Authorities stated that strict action will follow after the preliminary inquiry.
