Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the famous Shaivite shrine, Somnath Temple, in Gujarat. He participated in the Somnath Swabhiman Festival, organized to mark the 1,000th anniversary of the first attack on the temple. At the temple, he performed special prayers and took part in the chanting of the Omkar mantra.
During the visit, the Prime Minister also witnessed a special drone show featuring 3,000 drones, highlighting the temple’s significance. The Swabhiman Festival, commemorating the attack by Mahmud of Ghazni on this sacred site in January 1026, continues until January 11. As part of the Shaurya Yatra honoring those who sacrificed their lives to protect the temple, Modi will participate in a procession on Sunday involving 108 horses.
