Former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu described photo journalism as the eyes of democracy and emphasized that photo journalists are as vital as the lifeblood of journalism. He said that while reporters use the pen, photo journalists capture truth through the lens. He made these remarks at the 23rd Best Photo Journalist Awards – 2025 ceremony organized by the Telangana State Photo Journalists Association (TSPJA) at the Telangana State Media Academy auditorium in Nampally, Hyderabad.
Speaking on the occasion, Venkaiah Naidu recalled his long association with photo journalists since his student political days and stated that photography transcends language barriers across the world. He highlighted that a single photograph can convey what hundreds of words cannot express. Other dignitaries including K. Srinivasa Reddy, Ponnala Lakshmaiah, and Devulapalli Amar also spoke, stressing the importance of adapting to modern technological changes and preserving authenticity in visual reporting.
