Actor Prakash Raj is facing a personal loss as his mother Suvarnalatha passed away at the age of 86 due to age-related health issues. She breathed her last at their residence on Monday morning, and her final rites were performed the same evening in Bengaluru. The funeral, conducted according to Christian traditions, later became a topic of discussion on social media.

Some social media users questioned Prakash Raj over his earlier statements about being an atheist and the religious customs followed during his mother’s funeral. Responding strongly, Prakash Raj said that while he does not believe in God, his mother had her own beliefs, and he respected her right to have her last rites conducted according to her faith. He emphasized that respecting individual beliefs is basic humanity and criticized those spreading hate.
