India’s decisive military action against Pakistan under ‘Operation Sindoor’ in May 2025 has been described as a historic turning point by Switzerland-based Centre for Military History and Perspective Studies (CHPM) in its latest report. The study noted that the intensity of the Indian Air Force strikes severely weakened the Pakistani military, eventually forcing it to seek a ceasefire. Launched in retaliation to the Pahalgam terror attack, the 88-hour-long operation saw Indian fighter jets penetrate deep into Pakistani airspace and destroy terror camps and key military installations. The report highlighted that Pakistan failed to counter India’s strategy of “Escalation Dominance.”
According to CHPM, India’s S-400 missile defence system effectively neutralised Pakistani drones and aircraft, while BrahMos and SCALP missiles struck targets over 200 kilometres deep, crippling radar systems and command centres and leaving Pakistan incapable of sustaining the conflict. The global recognition of Operation Sindoor’s success was visibly reflected during the 77th Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi, where the Republic Day Parade at Kartavya Path showcased indigenous weapon systems used in the operation. The Indian Army also marched for the first time in the Battle Array Format, powerfully demonstrating the nation’s combat readiness and military strength on a prestigious national platform.
