Union Home Minister Amit Shah made significant remarks regarding Naxalism. Speaking in the Lok Sabha, he stated that Naxalism has been almost completely eradicated in the Bastar region of Chhattisgarh—an area that once served as a stronghold for Maoists. He noted that the influence of Maoists in the region has now diminished significantly, and government welfare schemes are reaching the tribal communities.
He revealed that over the past three years, 706 Maoists have been killed, and more than 4,800 have surrendered. He further stated that the influence of Maoists is currently confined to just two specific regions within the country. He remarked that it is unjustifiable to take up arms at a time when development is actively taking place.
