Union Jal Shakti Minister C. R. Patil made strong remarks on the Kaleshwaram Project, stating that nearly ₹1 lakh crore of public money has gone to waste. Speaking in Parliament, he said that the failure of the project was mainly due to flaws in planning and design, raising serious concerns over its execution and effectiveness.
Meanwhile, Suresh Reddy urged the Centre in the Rajya Sabha to consider declaring Kaleshwaram as a national project. Responding to this, the minister said that a central team is currently studying the issues and deficiencies in the project. The findings of this study are expected to play a key role in deciding the future course of action.
