The Government of India has firmly denied reports of any shortage of petrol, diesel, or LPG across the country, stating that sufficient stocks are available to meet demand. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas clarified that there is enough fuel stock to last for the next 60 days, along with additional strategic reserves extending up to 74 days. The government dismissed rumors circulating on social media about fuel scarcity, calling them misleading and baseless, especially amid long queues seen at petrol pumps in several regions.
Officials further highlighted that India is the fourth-largest refiner and the fifth-largest exporter of petroleum products globally, supplying refined fuels to over 150 countries. All domestic refineries are currently operating at full capacity, ensuring uninterrupted supply. The government also confirmed that LPG stocks are adequate, with increased domestic production reducing dependence on imports. It warned that strict action will be taken against those spreading false information that may cause unnecessary panic among the public.
