The 150th birth anniversary of India’s first Deputy Prime Minister, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, was celebrated across the nation with great reverence and patriotism. President Droupadi Murmu paid floral tributes to Sardar Patel at Rashtrapati Bhavan, calling him a visionary who dedicated his life to the unity and integrity of India. At Ekta Nagar in Gujarat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered floral tributes at the Statue of Unity — the world’s tallest statue built in Patel’s honor. A helicopter showered petals on the statue as a mark of respect.
A special National Unity Day Parade followed, featuring impressive military drills and vibrant cultural performances. PM Modi received a guard of honor from the armed forces and took a pledge of unity along with servicemen and citizens present. Colorful tableaux representing Gujarat, Jammu & Kashmir, Andaman & Nicobar, Manipur, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, and Puducherry showcased the diversity and unity of India. The event concluded with patriotic songs and cultural programs celebrating Sardar Patel’s enduring legacy as the “Iron Man of India.”
