Telangana Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar launched a sharp attack on Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, demanding that he apologise to the people of Telangana before holding the proposed Nava Nirmana Sabha in Hyderabad. The minister alleged that Pawan Kalyan had made remarks in the past that hurt the sentiments and self-respect of Telangana people and questioned the rationale behind organising such a meeting in the state.
Ponnam Prabhakar said there was no objection to Pawan Kalyan participating in Telangana Formation Day celebrations, but objected to the conduct of a separate political meeting. He accused the Jana Sena leader of attempting to create divisions and questioned why similar meetings were not being organised in other states. The minister also asserted that Telangana shares cordial relations with Andhra Pradesh and respects all neighbouring states, while emphasizing that any comments perceived as insulting Telangana's identity or self-respect would be strongly opposed.
