In a major development from Chhattisgarh, as many as 29 Maoists surrendered before the police on Wednesday in Sukma district. District Superintendent of Police Kiran Chavan said that those who surrendered belonged to the Darbha and Keralapal Area Committees. With this mass surrender, the Keralapal Area Committee has been completely dismantled, he added.
The SP stated that immediate financial assistance and rehabilitation benefits would be provided to the surrendered Maoists as per government policy. He also noted that Maoist activities in Sukma district have significantly declined in recent times. Police officials believe this surrender marks a major step towards restoring peace and strengthening security in the region.
