Authorities have seized the Hyderabad residence of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa located in Srinagar Colony due to pending property tax dues of ₹83 lakh. Officials confirmed that the action was taken after repeated non payment. Jayalalithaa, who served multiple terms as Chief Minister, passed away while in office and was widely known as "Puratchi Thalaivi" and "Amma" among her followers.
Before entering politics, she had a successful career in films. Jayalalithaa also owned substantial assets, and her disproportionate assets case had once created a major sensation. Previously, seized assets including gold jewelry, cash, and property documents were handed over to the Tamil Nadu government in three trunk boxes.
