At 66, Nandamuri Balakrishna continues to impress with back-to-back hits like Akhanda, Bhagavanth Kesari and Veera Simha Reddy. However, Akhanda 2 did not meet expectations, increasing curiosity around his next film, NBK 111. The movie reunites Balakrishna with director Gopichand Malineni, who earlier delivered a hit with him. Initially planned as a historical action film with a grand budget, the project is now facing several changes even before going on floors.
Reports suggest that due to high production costs and recent financial concerns in the film market, the makers decided to drop the historical backdrop. Instead, they are now working on a mass entertainer set in a Mumbai gangster background. This change is said to help control the budget and reduce risks. The film is being produced by Venkat Satish Kilaru under the Vriddhi Cinemas banner.
Meanwhile, rumors about the film’s female lead are creating buzz online. It is said that Nayanthara may have stepped out of the project, with Dimple Hayathi being considered as her replacement. Another version suggests that Nayanthara remains the main heroine while Dimple plays a second lead role. Social media reactions have been mixed, with some criticizing the casting choice. Responding to such rumors, director Gopichand Malineni indirectly gave a sarcastic reply, hinting that not all circulating news is true.
