The Central Government conducted a review regarding the availability of fuel commodities—such as LPG, petrol, and diesel—across the country. Neeraj Mittal, Secretary of the Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, held discussions with the Chief Secretaries of all states via video conference. Several senior officials, including Telangana Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, participated in this meeting.
During the session, special emphasis was placed on fuel production, reserves, and distribution. States were advised to maintain adequate reserves to meet the demand for LPG and to ensure timely delivery. Furthermore, instructions were issued to curb the spread of misinformation regarding shortages of petrol and gas. Clarifying that there is no shortage of LPG in the country, officials noted that refill bookings should be placed only after 25 days in urban areas and 45 days in rural areas.
Additionally, the Centre suggested promoting the usage of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) in the future. It was noted that expanding the gas network would provide consumers with convenient services at a lower cost. The Centre also directed states to establish special control rooms to curb black marketing and illegal hoarding.
