Hate Speech Bill Dangerous, Threat to Democracy – Maheshwar Reddy

BJP MLA Alleti Maheshwar Reddy strongly criticized the proposed Hate Speech Prevention Bill, calling it a threat to democracy and a violation of human rights. He alleged that the bill contains vague provisions and could be misused to target individuals who criticize the government, especially on social media.

He further stated that the bill allows arrests without sufficient evidence and could lead to imprisonment even before proving guilt. Describing it as a dangerous move against freedom of expression, he demanded that the bill be reviewed thoroughly. He urged the government to form a House Committee, hold detailed discussions, and refer the bill to a Select Committee before implementation.
