The Telangana government, led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, deployed the HYDRA Wing in Hyderabad primarily to reclaim government lands and restore natural water bodies that had been encroached upon by private individuals. HYDRA has been actively operating to retrieve illegally occupied areas, and one of their most notable efforts is the restoration of Nallakunta Cheruvu in Hyderabad’s Kukatpally area. A viral video has captured the transformation of this water body from an illegally occupied site into a fully rejuvenated lake, drawing attention across social media. Reports suggest that Nallakunta Cheruvu had been under illegal encroachment since 2016. The Revanth Reddy government, through HYDRA, has now fully recovered the area. The water body is expected to be officially reopened this December, marking a significant achievement in environmental restoration and governance by the Telangana administration.
