The Telangana government has announced a Dearness Allowance (DA) hike of 2.1% for RTC employees, bringing relief to thousands of staff. Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar stated that the DA has been increased from 50.7% to 52.8%, effective from January 1, 2026. The government will clear the arrears for the past three months through supplementary bills. With this revision, the RTC will bear an additional monthly financial burden of ₹2.82 crore. Notably, the government had earlier increased DA by 2.1% in July 2025 as well.
Officials, including V. Nagi Reddy, welcomed the move, stating that there are no pending DA dues after the implementation of RPS-2017. The minister also reviewed pending works and development activities with regional managers, directing them to expedite projects. He emphasized that employee welfare, organizational strengthening, and improved passenger services remain top priorities, along with initiatives like hospital upgrades, compassionate appointments, staff recruitment, and new bus procurement.
