The Andhra Pradesh government is planning to introduce a new law to restrict children under the age of 13 from using social media. This move is aimed at protecting young children from the negative effects of online platforms and ensuring their safety.
Officials believe that limiting social media usage at a young age can help improve children’s mental health, focus and overall development. The proposed law is expected to include strict rules to prevent access to social media for children below the age limit.
Several countries like Australia and Singapore have already taken similar steps by banning social media use for children under 16. Inspired by these measures, the AP government is now preparing to implement a similar policy in the state.
