Former Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy stated that the MAVIGUN model is the most effective path for ensuring balanced development in backward regions like Rayalaseema and North Andhra. He made these remarks during a meeting with Rayalaseema Intellectuals Forum coordinator Makireddy Purushotham Reddy. Jagan emphasized that investing massive funds in mega projects like Amaravati could strain the financially challenged state and lead to the concentration of resources in one region, leaving others underdeveloped.
Proposing an alternative, Jagan suggested a capital model connecting Machilipatnam, Vijayawada, and Guntur under the MAVIGUN framework. He explained that this model would require only around ₹10,000 crore, allowing the remaining funds to be utilized for irrigation projects in Rayalaseema and industrial development in North Andhra. He asserted that this approach would ensure inclusive growth and address regional aspirations while promoting overall development of Andhra Pradesh.
