

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu participated in the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Google Cloud AI Data Center in Visakhapatnam. The event was attended by Union Ministers Ashwini Vaishnaw, Pemmasani Chandrasekhar, Srinivasa Varma, State Education and IT Minister Nara Lokesh, along with other state ministers and several public representatives. Addressing the gathering, Google Cloud Global Infrastructure Vice President Bikas Koley said the foundation of the Google India AI Hub would serve as a cornerstone for the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. He stated that the data center being established in Visakhapatnam would play a crucial role in the AI era and significantly contribute to India’s digital transformation.
He further noted that Visakhapatnam and Andhra Pradesh are progressing rapidly in the global AI economy. Alongside Mumbai and Chennai, Visakhapatnam is emerging as an important international subsea gateway, with new fiber optic lines expected to strengthen connectivity with other regions. He thanked partners AdaniConneX and Airtel Nxtra for their support in the project. The data center is expected to generate employment opportunities for local youth, provide advanced cloud and AI training programs, and support women through micro-enterprise initiatives. He added that the project would also focus on energy security through new transmission lines and energy storage systems, while ensuring environmental protection and regional economic sustainability.
