In a significant development, the Tamil Film Producers Council has announced key decisions that could reshape the Kollywood landscape. The council has declared a complete shutdown of film shootings across Tamil Nadu on May 2 as part of its protest and reform measures. Among the major resolutions, producers have proposed discontinuing the traditional remuneration system for actors and instead introducing a revenue-sharing model based on the film’s profits.
The move aims to bring structural changes to film production and financial management, aligning with evolving industry practices. The council also indicated that these reforms are inspired by similar approaches in Tollywood, where revenue-sharing models have gained traction. Industry insiders believe this decision could significantly impact budgeting, risk distribution, and the overall economics of filmmaking in the coming years.
