Fatty liver disease has been increasing rapidly in recent years, particularly in urban areas, according to health experts. Poor eating habits and an unhealthy lifestyle are considered the main reasons behind this growing issue. However, a recent study has revealed that consuming oranges daily may help control fatty liver disease. Published in the journal Nutrients, the research was conducted on 60 individuals aged between 30 and 65 years. Half of the participants were given around 400 grams of seedless oranges daily for four weeks. The results showed a reduction in liver fat and noticeable improvement in overall liver health indicators.
Seedless oranges are commonly known as navel oranges. These fruits are sweet in taste and rich in nutrients such as Vitamin C and polyphenols. They help improve metabolism and reduce fat accumulation around the liver. In addition, the antioxidants and fiber present in these oranges support the body’s detoxification process and improve liver function. However, experts advise that oranges alone should not be considered a complete cure for fatty liver disease. These fruits are also available in India and may be included in the diet after consulting a doctor. They can be especially beneficial for people with fatty liver. It is better to consume the whole fruit rather than juice. People with diabetes should consume oranges in moderation. A balanced diet, regular exercise and a healthy lifestyle, along with eating oranges, can significantly support better liver health.
