Don't link religious beliefs with gender discrimination - Central

The Supreme Court will examine whether religious beliefs should be intertwined with gender discrimination. The Centre cited the example of Shabarimala, where women were historically denied entry. It also highlighted that in some temples, men are restricted from entering certain areas.

The government mentioned the Devi Bhagavati temple and noted that in some traditions, alcohol is offered as part of rituals. The Centre emphasized that superstitions should not be confused with customs. The Supreme Court said it will determine what constitutes superstition and what is a legitimate ritual.
