Amid the ongoing tensions in West Asia, demand for 5 kg LPG cylinders has increased significantly across India. The government revealed that around 6.6 lakh cylinders have been sold since March 23. Consumers can purchase these cylinders from nearby distributors by showing valid identification documents. Authorities have also intensified action against illegal hoarding and black marketing, seizing over 50,000 cylinders since March.
The Ministry of Petroleum stated that nearly 90,000 cylinders were sold on April 4 alone, with total sales reaching 6.6 lakh units. It also clarified that there is no shortage of supply, as 5.1 million cylinders were delivered in a single day, with 95% of bookings made online. These 5 kg cylinders, also known as FTL cylinders, are sold at market price without subsidy, unlike the 14.2 kg domestic cylinders. Customers do not require residential proof and can easily obtain them from nearby LPG distributors.
