Authorities from HYDRA secured two park lands in Ameenpur mandal on Thursday, preventing potential encroachment. The land falls under survey numbers 152 and 153, where a 15-acre layout named Sri Venkataramana Colony was developed with 144 plots. The layout was initially developed by Faverlal, the managing trustee of Munoth Private Trust. In 2012, Mahakumar Jain, who later took charge, reportedly sold around 7 acres by classifying it as agricultural land. Following this, representatives of the colony welfare association filed a complaint through HYDRA Prajavani.
The matter is currently under court consideration. Residents raised concerns that the remaining 8 acres, which include two designated park areas, were at risk of encroachment.
Acting on the directions of HYDRA Commissioner AV Ranganath, officials inspected the site, identified the park lands, and secured them with fencing. Boards were also installed marking them as park areas.
The protected land is estimated to be worth around ₹47 crore.
