The cold wave continues to tighten its grip across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, with temperatures dropping significantly compared to the past two days. Early mornings have become extremely harsh, with dense fog adding to the difficulties. Low visibility on major roads has made travel risky, and the Meteorological Department has warned that the cold conditions may intensify further in the coming days.
In Telangana, several regions recorded single-digit temperatures. Patancheru and Adilabad registered 7°C, while Medak, Hanumakonda and Rajendranagar saw temperatures around 9°C. Hyderabad, Nizamabad, Ramagundam, Khammam, Nalgonda and Mahbubnagar also experienced severe cold. Dense fog in the early hours caused traffic disruptions. IMD has issued a Yellow Alert for Hyderabad, Adilabad, Asifabad, Nirmal, Warangal, Siddipet, Medak and Sangareddy districts.
In Andhra Pradesh, cold conditions are even harsher. In the Visakhapatnam Agency region, temperatures dropped to extreme lows: Dumbriguda and Minumuluru recorded 4°C, Araku 5°C, Paderu 6°C and Chintapalli 6.5°C. Water sources in many tribal areas have started freezing. Districts such as Alluri, Parvathipuram, Sri Satya Sai, Kurnool, Anantapur, Annamayya, Prakasam and Chittoor recorded temperatures below 12°C. Despite the freezing cold, tourist spots like Araku Valley, Vanjangi and Madagada witnessed heavy footfall as visitors flocked to enjoy the winter landscapes.
