Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy distributed compensation cheques to the families of those who lost their lives in the bus accident that occurred near Madinah, Saudi Arabia. The cheques were handed over personally at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar State Secretariat, where the affected families were invited. The Chief Minister stated that the government stands firmly with the victims’ families and that the assistance was extended to provide them reassurance and support during this difficult time.
He recalled that immediately after receiving information about the accident, a delegation led by Minister Azharuddin was dispatched to Madinah. The state government facilitated the urgent issuance of passports and visas for the family members of the deceased to travel there. In coordination with the Indian Consulate and the Saudi authorities, the last rites of the victims were conducted at the Jannatul Baqi cemetery.
The tragic accident, which occurred on November 17, 2025, near Madinah, claimed the lives of 44 residents of Hyderabad in a devastating bus fire. The government announced and distributed compensation of ₹5 lakh each to the families of the deceased and ₹3 lakh to the family of an injured victim. The Chief Minister noted that although there is generally no provision for government compensation in accidents occurring abroad, the state decided to extend assistance on humanitarian grounds. He also mentioned that compensation had recently been provided to the families affected by the Nampally fire accident. On the occasion, Revanth Reddy reiterated his longstanding association with the Muslim community, stating that since his election as MLA from Kodangal in 2009, he has been sponsoring five individuals annually for the Hajj pilgrimage at his own expense, with local Muslim religious leaders entrusted with the selection process.
