New Delhi, January 7: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah to grant legal status to Amaravati as the state capital by introducing a bill in Parliament. After concluding his visit to Polavaram on Wednesday, the AP CM met the Union Home Minister in Delhi to discuss various development and welfare initiatives for the state.
During the meeting, Chandrababu Naidu emphasized that granting Amaravati legal recognition as the capital would not only accelerate development in the state but also fulfill the aspirations of its people. The CM also requested flexibility for the state under certain provisions of the recently introduced Jeevitha Rythu Jeevan (G-RAM-G) scheme, which replaced the earlier employment guarantee program.
The Chief Minister highlighted the financial challenges faced by Andhra Pradesh due to the adjustment of the central and state fund-sharing ratio to 60:40, urging the Centre to provide alternative financial support. He acknowledged the Centre’s previous assistance to the state and appealed for continued cooperation. The discussions also covered ongoing development and welfare programs, as well as the latest administrative developments in the state.
