Serious allegations have emerged regarding the inspection process of engineering, pharmacy, and management colleges in the state. Some professors associated with JNTUH are reportedly demanding large sums during inspections, according to college managements. In particular, a senior official is alleged to be asking for up to ₹4 lakh for favorable reports.
Managements claim that failure to comply may lead to negative inspection reports, which could affect affiliation approvals. Every academic year, Fact-Finding Committees (FFC) inspect infrastructure and facilities before granting affiliation. Inspections that began on the 10th of this month are expected to continue until the 25th. Earlier, alleged payments ranged between ₹1–2 lakh, but this year, the demands are said to have increased significantly. Assigning major colleges to specific teams has also raised concerns. There are allegations that certain colleges in areas like Keesara and Nagole paid substantial amounts.
However, not all faculty members are involved in such practices, and some have reportedly refused to accept any money. Meanwhile, after inspections, some institutions are reportedly laying off faculty. A well-known educational group in Hyderabad is said to have terminated around 300 lecturers. Complaints regarding this issue have been submitted to the Telangana State Council of Higher Education. Chairman Prof. Balakista Reddy has taken note and directed JNTUH officials to investigate and take appropriate action if the allegations are proven true.
