The documentary UNITY – The Man of Social Justice has won the prestigious Best Documentary award at the Telangana Gaddar Film Awards 2025. Directed by young filmmaker Vijay Kumar Badugu from Bhudan Pochampally, the film highlights the life and legacy of renowned freedom fighter Konda Laxman Bapuji, widely regarded as the “Father of the Telangana People.” The announcement was made by the Jury Chairman for Documentaries and Short Films, Vijay Kanakamedala, at the office of the Telangana State Film Development Corporation in Hyderabad.
Produced by Chirandas Srikanth, the 30-minute documentary features performances by renowned artist Mime Madhu and child actor Master Bhanu, portraying key moments from Bapuji’s inspiring life. The jury praised the film for its strong narration, engaging storytelling, and high technical standards. The documentary had already gained international recognition by winning two awards at the Bharat International Film Festival in Mumbai and the Best Director award at the 15th Dada Saheb Phalke Awards in New Delhi in 2025.
