A controversy has emerged in Tollywood following actress Radhika Apte’s comments about her past experience working in Telugu cinema. During the promotions of her web series Akka, she reportedly spoke about feeling uncomfortable with certain scenes involving romance with a much older actor and a traditional storyline involving marriage to an uncle. She also recalled a scene in which the hero carried her character’s dead body while performing action sequences. Although she did not name the film, the details led many to associate her comments with Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Legend.
Amid the debate, producer SKN shared a post on X without directly mentioning Radhika Apte. He said that artists who receive opportunities and recognition from the South Indian film industry should respect its culture and traditions. He also distinguished between constructive criticism and comments that appear to belittle an entire industry. His post is being viewed by many as an indirect response to Apte’s remarks. The issue has sparked different opinions, with some defending an actor’s right to speak about uncomfortable professional experiences, while others argue that individual experiences should not be used to generalise about an entire film industry. Balakrishna and Legend director Boyapati Srinu have not been mentioned as having responded in the supplied report.
