Actress Regina Cassandra has welcomed the growing trend of erecting massive cutouts for female actors, saying heroines deserve the same recognition and respect as their male counterparts. She expressed happiness over the installation of a 60-foot cutout of Nayanthara ahead of the release of her upcoming film Mookuthi Amman 2, titled Mahashakti in Telugu. Regina said that such celebrations, which were traditionally reserved for male stars, mark a positive change in the film industry.
Speaking in an interview, Regina recalled how massive cutouts had long been associated with leading male actors in Tamil cinema, while heroines rarely received similar recognition. She also mentioned that after Nayanthara received a huge cutout, a similar gesture was made for veteran actress Radhika for Thaai Kizhavi. Regina, who plays an antagonist in Mookuthi Amman 2, said the film gave her the opportunity to explore a negative role in a big commercial project for the first time. She added that she prefers choosing distinctive characters rather than limiting herself to similar roles. Directed by Sundar C, the film also features Urvashi and is scheduled to release on November 6.
