Actor Shivaji has publicly apologized for the controversial remarks he made during the pre-release event of his upcoming film Dandora. Addressing the media through a specially arranged press meet, Shivaji expressed deep regret and emotional distress over the words he used on stage.
Speaking to the media, Shivaji said the remarks continued to haunt him and revealed that he had not been able to sleep for nearly 36 hours after the incident. He admitted that he had used two inappropriate words on stage and accepted full responsibility for his mistake. He stated that the moment he stepped down from the stage, he realized the seriousness of his error and felt ashamed of his conduct.
Shivaji clarified that in his nearly 30-year journey in the industry and public life, he had never crossed boundaries or spoken disrespectfully about women or any individual. He said the words slipped out unintentionally and emphasized that they were un-parliamentary and unacceptable in any public forum. He offered a sincere apology to fellow actors, women, audiences, and everyone who felt hurt by his statements.
The actor also revealed that he had first apologized to his wife and expressed concern about how the incident might affect his children. He said he was disturbed by the social media backlash and the complaints sent to various authorities, including women’s commissions and governments, without hearing his version. However, he stated that he is ready to cooperate fully and even submit a written apology if required.
During the press meet, Shivaji reiterated his commitment to social issues and explained that his intention was never to demean anyone. He highlighted that his comments stemmed from concerns about how cinema is often blamed for societal problems. Accepting that intention does not justify inappropriate language, he reaffirmed that his apology comes from his conscience.
On the film front, Dandora is set to release worldwide on December 25, 2025. Directed by Muralikanth and produced by Loukya Entertainments, the film addresses caste system, social inequality, and rural realities through a commercial narrative. Shivaji expressed confidence that the film would connect with audiences and urged viewers to watch it in nearby theatres.
