Top Indian actress Rashmika Mandanna has addressed the rumours about her being banned from Kannada cinema. She clarified that she has not been banned from any film industry and that the public perception about her is far from reality. During an interview with a Kannada media house while promoting her upcoming film Thamma, Rashmika was asked about the widespread rumours that she was banned from Kannada cinema following her breakup with actor Rakshit Shetty a few years ago.
Responding to the question, Rashmika said, “The world doesn’t know what happens behind closed doors. No one can put a camera into your personal life. Only God knows the actual truth, and there is often more to the story than what is portrayed in the media.”
She added, “So far, I have not been banned… So, yeah.” Emphasizing that celebrities should not live according to public perception, she stated, “One cannot live based on people’s assumptions.”
Rashmika made her acting debut with the 2016 film Kirrik Party, which starred Rakshit Shetty and was directed by Rishab Shetty of Kantara fame. She got engaged to Rakshit in 2017, but the couple parted ways in 2018. Her last Kannada film was the 2021 release Pogaru. After that, although there was no official announcement, rumours began circulating that she had been banned from the Kannada film industry. On the career front, Rashmika will next be seen in Thamma, releasing on October 21. Meanwhile, reports have emerged about her engagement to Vijay Deverakonda, although this has not been officially confirmed.
