In Tollywood, Suryadevara Naga Vamsi is widely known as a firebrand. Whether it’s a film event or an interview, he always speaks aggressively and directly. Because of this straightforward nature, he has faced trouble on several occasions. Still, he continues with the same style without changing himself. During the title teaser launch of his upcoming film Epic, Naga Vamsi once again delivered sharp punches in his trademark manner.
He also strongly countered the way people on social media have been reacting to the arrest of iBomma piracy site operator Ravi. Since Epic is set in the 1990s backdrop, someone asked him what has changed between then and now. Responding to that, he said, “Everything that changed is because of social media.” He questioned how people could glorify iBomma Ravi as a Robin Hood and asked what could be more unjust than that.
“People are praising Ravi as Robin Hood, but those of us who invest money and work hard to make films are being treated like thieves. If ticket prices increase by just 50 rupees, they criticize us as if it’s a crime. This is the change brought entirely by social media,” Naga Vamsi expressed with frustration.
When asked about his experience working with Vijay Deverakonda in Kingdom earlier and now with his brother Anand Deverakonda in Epic, Naga Vamsi immediately clarified, “Don’t compare these two films. They have nothing to do with each other.”
