

Priyanka Chopra has shared interesting details about ‘Varanasi’, directed by S.S. Rajamouli and starring Mahesh Babu. Speaking in a special podcast, she said the love Indian audiences show towards their favourite actors is unique. Recalling the ‘Varanasi’ event in Hyderabad, Priyanka said the response from Mahesh Babu’s fans left her amazed and that she was “mind-blown” by his popularity. She also described ‘Varanasi’ as her first full-fledged Telugu film and said she was happy with the warm welcome extended to her and Prithviraj Sukumaran. Although not knowing Telugu initially felt challenging, she said Rajamouli’s confidence in her and his support throughout the process helped her greatly.
Priyanka said she immediately agreed to the film after Rajamouli told her that he had imagined her for the role. She also praised his detailed rehearsals before important scenes, saying they give actors greater clarity about their performances. According to Priyanka, the film combines extensive visual effects with practical sets to create a more authentic experience. She recalled shooting in Africa in a controlled environment surrounded by real wild animals and elephants as one of the most thrilling experiences of her career. She described ‘Varanasi’ as a very special project and said working with Rajamouli and entering Telugu cinema would remain a memorable experience.
