Actor Allari Naresh is creating strong buzz with his upcoming thriller ‘12A Railway Colony’, which is drawing attention through exciting promotional content. The film is directed by newcomer Nani Kesaragadda and produced by Srinivasaa Chitturi under the Srinivasaa Silver Screen banner. Presented by Pawan Kumar, the project has Dr. Anil Vishwanath of Polimera movie fame as the showrunner, who has also written the story, screenplay and dialogues. Kamakshi Bhaskarla plays the female lead. The film is set to release on November 21. As part of promotions, Allari Naresh shared several details about the film.
Naresh expressed excitement, saying 12A Railway Colony is his 63rd release, and he feels a strong sense of confidence this time. He revealed that he wanted to explore a new genre, as he had never acted in a suspense thriller before. The story is inspired by a real-life incident that happened in Hyderabad, and Anil crafted it with an impressive screenplay and a paranormal touch. Naresh was shocked when he first heard the story, especially the second half. He said the film unfolds with three to four parallel tracks, each connecting cleverly—making the screenplay unique and heavily rooted in mind games. Naresh believes that if the film becomes successful, people will discuss its screenplay for years to come.
He explained that the title was locked early because the story takes place in a house numbered 12A, located in a railway colony, making the title a perfect fit. Speaking about heroine Kamakshi, Naresh said she fit the role of a middle-class, girl-next-door character. Her father had previously worked with Naresh’s father, and she had also acted in Maredumilli. Though she worked with Anil earlier in Polimera, she underwent a fresh photoshoot for this film. Naresh praised her as a multi-talented actress who also works in writing and direction.
Naresh revealed that he speaks the Telangana dialect in the film, and he trained under a coach named Ajay. It took him four days to complete dubbing instead of his usual one day, as he carefully checked each dialogue to get the dialect right. In the film, Naresh plays Karthik, a man who works for a local MLA. He has a gang of friends, and during their usual fun moments, an unexpected incident occurs that changes his life, forming the core of the story.
Music director Bheems Ceciroleo, known for his successful combination with Naresh, composed the film’s music. Naresh said Bheems treated this thriller as a challenge and delivered passionately. Speaking about his own journey, Naresh said comedy is the toughest genre, requiring perfect timing while maintaining a serious face during performance. He credited his father’s comedy films and his interactions with industry comedians for shaping his skills.
Regarding future roles, Naresh said he wants to do a horror film and also a silent comedy film without dialogues, where he aims to make people laugh purely with performance. About Bachalamalli, he said he was not disappointed at all and considers it a film he is proud of.
Naresh also shared that he is open to doing a comedy web series, though the stories he received so far did not impress him. On the decline of strong comedy writers and directors, he said comedy is difficult because society has become more sensitive, and only organic humor works today.
He praised producer Srinivasaa Chitturi, calling him straightforward and uncompromising. After working together in Na Saami Ranga, the producer immediately wanted another film with Naresh, and 12A Railway Colony began soon after. Even before its release, Chitturi already committed to doing another film with him.
Naresh concluded by revealing his upcoming projects—Alcohol releasing in January, and two more comedy films starting soon under Hasya and Annapurna banners.
