The success of Tamil film ‘DC’ has sparked a new discussion on social media after producer Kalanithi Maran gifted brand-new BMW cars to director Arun Matheswaran, actor Lokesh Kanagaraj and music composer Anirudh Ravichander. The film, released on August 7 under the Sun Pictures banner, grossed over ₹100 crore worldwide on a budget of around ₹25 crore.

While the three key members of the film received luxury cars as a success gift, the absence of gifts for actresses Wamiqa Gabbi and Sanjana Krishnamurthy has drawn criticism online. Fans pointed out that Wamiqa’s performance in the role of Chandra received appreciation and argued that the actresses also deserved recognition for their contribution to the film.

Several social media users questioned why the success celebrations focused only on the male members of the team. Some sarcastically suggested gifts ranging from a scooter to a private jet for Wamiqa, while others said the entire team contributed to the film’s success. The film, directed by Arun Matheswaran and starring Lokesh Kanagaraj, is currently streaming on Sun NXT, with the debate over the actresses’ recognition continuing online.
