Years Long Maoist Journey Ends...Key Surrender

Maoist State Committee member Kakara Samatha, alias Madhavi, surrendered before the Telangana Police in Mulugu, bringing her 41 year association with the Maoist movement to an end. Police said Samatha joined the People’s War in 1985 and rose to the rank of State Committee member in 2003.

Under the Telangana government’s surrender and rehabilitation policy, Samatha was provided a ₹20 lakh reward along with ₹25,000 in immediate financial assistance. Officials said she will also receive support for rehabilitation, employment opportunities and vocational training. DGP C. V. Anand appealed to other active Maoist cadres to abandon armed struggle and return to mainstream society.
