

Delhi Capitals wicketkeeper-batter Abhishek Porel has been arrested by Hooghly district police in connection with a serious case registered following a complaint by a medical student. According to reports, the woman alleged that Porel had a physical relationship with her after promising to marry her and subsequently made threats. The complaint was registered at Mogra Police Station in Hooghly district. The Calcutta High Court later directed the police to arrest Porel immediately and also ordered the seizure of his electronic devices in connection with the investigation.
The arrest comes at a time when Porel has established himself as a prominent young player for Delhi Capitals in the IPL. He has been part of the franchise for several seasons and has also represented Bengal in domestic cricket. Porel has denied the allegations, describing them as baseless, and the case remains under investigation. The latest legal development has brought considerable attention to the cricketer's career as authorities proceed with the investigation.
